Julie Brown Neu, a contemporary quilt maker and quilt artist, practices her craft in her Berkshires studio.  She makes traditional quilts, studio/art quilts and quilted items, such as: lavender-filled coasters,  tea cozies, book covers, table runners, placemats, napkin rings, and cup cozies.  Each item is unique and made from high-quality, 100% cotton fabrics and battings.  Most pieces are machine pieced and machine quilted and then finished by hand.

As an ever-practical farm girl, many of Julie’s quilted items offer improved functionality beyond their traditional form or are made from scraps from larger projects.  Many of her table runners have sleeves on the back for slipping in silicone potholders to make the runner into one long trivet. The tea cozy of her own design is closed with Velcro and allows tea to be poured without removing the cozy.  The lavender coasters not only protect furniture from heat, but also act as aromatherapy by releasing the scent of lavender. Her napkin rings and cup cozies are created using scraps and since they are made from 100% cotton, they can be tossed in a washing machine.

Julie’s work can be purchased through her online store: julieneu.etsy.com and at local craft and art fairs. She welcomes custom orders for any of the quilted items she produces and welcomes the challenge of figuring out how to create something she doesn’t already produce.
